PI Energy and Wind Power

Moving to a clean energy transition is often understood just as a decrease of fossil fuel consumption, but it should also include making solar and wind energy cleaner and more competitive. Many large wind turbines use diesel power at times. For large wind turbines in remote locations, diesel generators can provide power to maneuver the turbine and adjust the blade pitch, when there is insufficient wind or if the wind is too strong to operate safely.

While the theoretical potential of solar PV is more than 300 times that of wind energy, there are many locations around the world, including remote areas, with good wind resources. Wind and solar energy actually complement each other most of the time, as it is often cloudy when the wind is strong and often sunny when the wind resources are low.
