PI Energy’s Development Milestone Plan

We want to share with you our development milestone plan for the next four months. PI Energy is advancing its P4 solar cell development in two key parameters: increasing area and efficiency. Our Sept. 2021 prototypes were smaller-area solar cells made on R&D fabrication equipment, which is more practical for initial process development.

We are now preparing to fabricate solar cells using commercially-available equipment for the next revision of our P4 solar cell. This approach will produce much larger devices that should also exhibit improved efficiency.

These next steps are crucial for our development path.

We are happy to share that we recently entered into an agreement with an additional materials processing contractor here in the US. This is exciting for us because it allows us to move faster, with larger, and higher-quality devices at a competitive cost. Working with outside technical contractors also enables us to identify the best-in-class processing equipment without having to purchase the specialized hardware until after we complete our solar cell development.

The image above is from November 1, 2021, showing multiple wafers with materials between processing steps, where layers are added and/or modified. With better tools, quality partners and technical contractors we are moving faster towards our goals.
